Details:
This indicator highlights the total number of wheel tractors, crawler tractors, agricultural machinery and equipment in use in agriculture, per reference unit (100 sq. km). This indicator is highly relevant for the mechanization and modernization of agriculture, as a consequence of using wheel tractors, crawler tractors, agricultural machinery and equipment in agricultural activities. Between 1990 and 2009, Romania had an increase of approximately 70% of the number of tractors and machinery (comparable to Bulgaria), but significantly lower than the values registered in Poland and Hungary (1257.90 units, respectively 261.84 tractors and machinery per 100 sq. km, compared to Romania’s 195.28 units per 100 sq. km).
