Details:
The birth of new enterprises is the sign of a healthy economic growth, a proof of local entrepreneurship and local capital. This indicator measures the difference between the newly created enterprises and the enterprises that file for bankruptcy (disappear from the market). This difference is relative to the total number of enterprises on the market at any given time. A negative value means that more companies disappear from the market than new companies are born. This indicator does not show significant increase, especially in fundamental economic fields (industry, manufacturing, etc.). In Romania, in the period 2009-2015, the average rate of this indicator was -2.2% of the total number of companies (approximately 1500 more companies/year disappeared on average, compared to new entries in industry). By comparison, in Poland this rate was 0.82% (approximately 2000 newly created companies in industry, annually), and in Bulgaria, 1.51% (approximately 500 newly created companies in industry, annually).
Units: number of enterprises (number of enterprise births minus number of enterprise deaths)
