Details:
Energy dependence expresses the percentage of energy imports in a country’s energy consumption. The reverse of this indicator is energy independence, as any country wishes to become independent or decrease its dependence energy-wise. There are clear advantages to reduced energy dependence: it eliminates price fluctuations and the potential instability resulting from exporters’ difficulties on the world market, etc. Romania is the only CEE country whose energy independence is over 80%, on the increase (energy dependence was 17% in 2016).
