Subfield: Natural resources
Details:
Extraction can be an important factor of economic growth, on the condition that it is sustainable (taking into consideration environment protection and ensuring value added processing). In Romania, the extraction of natural resources is influenced by the state and structure of the economy and by the fact that the sector has been restructured over the last two decades. For instance, extraction of non-metallic minerals was 135% higher in 2016 compared to 1994, extraction of metal ores dropped to 25% and extraction of fossil energy dropped to 60% in the same timeframe.
