The indicator Fertilizer consumption represents the total quantity of chemical synthesis products or natural fertilizers used in agricultural processes, to increase land nutrients. The unit of measure is the number of kilograms of fertilizers used per hectare of arable land. Together with mechanization, fertilizers consumption is a very important indicator for the degree of modernization of agriculture. At EU level, Romania currently uses the lowest quantity of fertilizers per hectare. It is noteworthy that in the last 10 years the fertilizers consumption has increased considerably.
