Subfield: Environmental quality
Details:
This indicator refers to the volume of freshwater resources, taking into account the total surface waters and groundwater, evapotranspiration, precipitation, external inflow (water entering the country from neighbouring territories) and outflow (water flowing into neighbouring territories). The data is presented by country, as an annual average of long-term water resources, 20-year estimate. Countries with extensive territory and well-developed river basins (France, Germany, Great Britain) have very good levels of freshwater resources. Compared to the number of inhabitants, Romania’s freshwater resources are at a good level. For instance, water from precipitation (7.68 cubic meters/inhabitant) is at a slightly higher level in Romania, compared to France (7.50 cubic meters/inhabitant).
* This indicator is calculated as long-term average (20 years minimum)
Units: Cubic metres per inhabitant
