This indicator shows the share of exports of high technology products in total exports. High technology products are defined by Eurostat as: aerospace, computers, electronics and telecommunications, pharmacy, scientific instruments, electrical machinery, chemistry, non-electrical machinery, armament. The total exports for the EU do not include the intra-EU trade. The indicator is measured by Eurostat as percentage in total exports. The indicator shows the contribution of a manufacturing country to the development of research and innovation at global level. In 2016, Romania had a percentage of 8.3, less than half the EU average (17.9%).
