Details:
Life expectancy or the mean number of years that a new-born child can expect to live if subjected throughout his life to the current mortality conditions (age specific). This indicator can be calculated at any age, but the most frequent are measurements at birth and 65 (which is usually retirement age). A frequent comparison is between women’s life expectancy and men’s life expectancy, because of women’s higher life expectancy (which can vary depending on the country, region or residence). In Romania, in 2016, life expectancy was 75.3 years, almost 6 years less than the EU average.
