Details:
The natural change of population is the indicator that shows a country’s demographic evolution, positive or negative natural change, depending on a variety of factors. This indicator shows the difference between the number of live births and the number of deaths. Data from the National Institute of Statistics shows that, since 1992, Romania has had a negative natural change (-3462 persons), reaching -54316 persons in 2016. The data shows population decrease along the years, in the context of a decrease in the number of live births, but also an increase in the number of deaths.
Population decrease has negative economic and social consequences, and a long-term impact on the pension and social security systems.
