Details:
The emigrant flow refers to the number of people leaving the country and taking up residence in other countries, to look for work or for other reasons, for a certain period of time, usually up to 12 months. These are Romanian citizens, foreign citizens or persons without citizenship, who have had their usual residence in Romania for at least 12 months.
The highest number of emigrants (544.1 thousand persons) was in 2007, when Romania became a EU member. Our country is first in the region, among the countries that export migrants (in 2016 207.6 thousand persons left Romania), followed by Poland and Bulgaria.
