The percentage of daily smokers (self-reported) is an indicator presented by Eurostat following national surveys. The data is presented by sex, age group, educational attainment and degree of urbanisation (high or low degree of urbanisation, rural). In 2014, approximately 1 in 4 people smoked daily, which places Romania halfway to the top among EU countries. By educational attainment level, Romania has a high percentage of smokers among tertiary education graduates.
