Details:

The evolution of water volumes used in Romania in recent years is illustrative for the country’s economy and demography. In the period 2000-2015, the use of water in economy (including households) dropped in all CEE countries, but the steepest decrease (75.6%) was registered in Romania, because of negative demographic evolution and the structural changes in economy. In comparison, in Poland use of water in economy dropped by 33.4% only. Bulgaria registered a similar decrease to Romania’s (68.2%).
