Labour force costs decrease significantly when the labour force can travel easily from one region of the country to another (especially around cities). This indicator takes into consideration the value of the total volume of passengers by road or rail, relative to GDP. In Romania the volume of passenger transport relative to GDP has decreased slowly in the last years, for the moment Romania being better placed than many of the countries in the region (Poland, Hungary or Slovakia). In 2014, the volume of passenger transport dropped in the EU by 2% compared to 2005, while in Romania it increased slightly by 3%. In Poland it dropped by 11%, in Slovakia, by 30%, and in Hungary, by 3%.
Units: Percentage of standard value for 2005: The indicator divides inland passenger transport volume (rail transport, road transport etc.), measured in passenger-kilometre, by GDP. The indicator is then presented in its dynamics compared to the reference year (2005)
