Details:

The employment rate is defined as the percentage of employed persons from total population. The breakdown can be made on various categories, for instance age, sex, residence or development region.

The employed persons are all persons aged 15 and above who have developed an economic activity producing goods or services for at least one hour during the reference week, for a wage, goods or services. People who work in agriculture, engaged in activities that produce goods for selling and cover at least 50% of the household consumption are also employed. The employment rate in agriculture in Romania is the highest in the EU. In 2014 more than 1 in 4 employed persons worked in agriculture.
