Details:

This indicator is calculated as teachers’ net average monthly earnings (in RON), compared to the net average monthly earnings of employees in other fields. In Romania, the net average monthly salary in education (2035 RON in 2016) is below the net average monthly salary in fields that do not require special qualifications (for instance, financial intermediation and insurance – 4061 RON in 2016), which points to the fact that this field will not be competitive and attractive to graduates with high grades. It is true that lately earnings in education have visibly increased. An alternative indicator can be found in Eurostat: comparisons between net average earnings in education in European countries (the unit of measure is Euro).
