Field: Education and Culture
Subfield: Cultural production, trade and consumption
Details:
This indicator shows the number of cultural consumers of events, cinema and visitors in museums based on ticket sales, as well as the number of participants in The Night of the Museum.
This is a relevant indicator for evaluating the cultural sector, but also the educational and economic sector, because cultural consumption reflects, firstly, the development of cultural infrastructure (halls, cinemas, museums) and cultural institutions. Secondly, the level of cultural consumption and preference for certain forms of cultural expression reflect the level of education, economic development and well-being of population. For instance, the number of spectators in cinemas in București-Ilfov region (4.3 million people in 2015) is approximately three times higher than the numbers in North-West region and nine times higher than in South-West Oltenia region.
